COMING THIS WINTER!

Please contact me if you want to be placed on the call list.

Workshop Description

This is an interactive psycho-educational 6-hour workshop that will help you enhance your relationship to build and maintain a strong bond through the seasons of marriage. This workshop is based on Dr. John Gottman's ground-breaking research on successful couples relationships and covered in his book by the same title. The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work has been called the definitive guide for anyone who wants their relationship to attain its highest potential. Dr. John Gottman has been recognized as one of the 10 most influential therapists in the last 25 years. Research has shown that most couples wait an average of 6 years before they seek help - that's 6 years of negative, painful interactions that could be prevented with the proper knowledge and skill set. This workshop is designed to help you get a relationship skill set that most people are not taught. Now you have that opportunity to learn these relationship skills with your partner in a safe, supportive environment.

Couples will learn:

  • How to grow friendship and build connection that last. Couples will learn how to enhance their love maps of each other and will practice how to turn toward each other in a Stress Reducing Conversation.
  • How  to manage conflict with proven, effective techniques. Couples will learn to distinguish between solvable problems and gridlock issues and how to address each using effective strategies for working through conflict in a way that brings partners to a closer understanding of your partner where each is truly heard and seen.
  • What factors predict divorce with 94% accuracy and how to use effective antidotes instead to help safe guard their relationship from the harmful effects of negativity.
  • How to create and build shared meaning with their partners that will help bring partners closer together. Couples will start to build key rituals that provide meaning and connection through the years to come.

Throughout the workshop, an emphasis will be given on fostering everyday, ordinary moments that  promote positive interactions between partners. Think: Small Things Often.

Couples are NOT required to share with the group but instead will share with their partners in break-away exercises. This is not a therapy workshop but a workshop that is designed to give information and grow positive relationship skills. Couples who need a higher level of support for relationship issues involving infidelity, substance abuse, trauma, domestic violence or serious mental health issues will be referred to a couples therapist for tailored help to best meet their needs.
